Winding Roads Frequently Asked Questions

Having questions is normal. Choosing a coach is a big step.
Below are the answers to the things I get asked most often. If you are wondering about something not listed here, just drop me a message. I’m always happy to chat and help out.
Frequently asked questions
Am I fit enough to have a coach?
Absolutely. This is the biggest myth in cycling! You don't get a coach because you are fast; you get a coach to become fast (or stronger, or fitter). I work with complete beginners just starting their journey, right through to professional riders. No matter your starting point, we build the plan around you
How much time do I need to commit to training?
As much, or as little, as real life allows. I don't demand a set number of hours. My job is to make the time you do have as effective as possible. Whether you have 5 hours a week or 14 plus, we’ll craft a schedule that fits your work, education and family life, not the other way around
What happens if I miss a session?
Don't panic. Life happens, work runs late, kids get sick, or you just feel tired. Because we have unlimited communication, you just let me know, and I’ll adjust the plan.
We don't need to stress about missed days; we simply adapt your plan and keep moving forward.
Do I need a power meter?
It depends on your goals.
• For the Power & Heart Rate Package: Yes, a power meter is required as it gives us the most precise data.
• For the Heart Rate Package: No, you just need a reliable heart rate monitor.
If you aren't sure which route to take, we can discuss this during our initial chat.
While it is possible to coach based purely on 'feel', I strongly recommend having at least heart rate data so we can track your progress properly.
How does the communication work?
I use Training Peaks to deliver your daily sessions and analyse your data. For feedback and chats, we use WhatsApp, email, or phone, whatever suits you best. Unlike many coaches, I don't limit contact. If you have a question or need advice, I’m here for you.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. I don’t believe in locking people in. There are no sign-up fees and no cancellation fees. I want you to stay because you’re seeing results and enjoying the process, not because of a contract.
How do I get started?
Simple. Just fill out the [Contact Form] (https://www.windingroads.cc/contact)or drop me a message. We’ll arrange a relaxed, informal chat to talk about your cycling history and your goals. If we’re a good fit, we can get you set up and riding immediately
